Mi Tío El Empleado

Mi tío el empleado tells the story of Don Vicente Cuevas, who comes to Cuba from Spain with only a letter of introduction to Mr. Marques de Casa Vetusta. The novel is narrated by Vincents nephew and denounces colonial officials for their corruption and greed. The story takes place in sordid offices among grotesque opportunists. Martí said his style is so precise that it seems like a blade cutting sheath.
