It is easy for Martin Espada to understand the trials and difficulties of the outcasts and immigrants, for his parents were immigrant and he was also subjected to physical and sociological discrimination. But the most important thing is that Espada overcame these circumstances and he used these experiences and transformed them into writing that will help others that are going through similar circumstances understand and overcome.
