Pyramids And Mexican Intelligence: The Quest For A Vision Far Beyond The Mask
Resumen del Libro
The Mexican Revolution became a bloody conflict that would only superficially change the old system of power. This historical event, however, gives birth to the vibrant literature influenced by the Revolution. It is our belief that the disillusionment of a failed democracy, the quest for the true identity of the Mexican, and the destruction of the old system of power are the main themes that unify this genre. Three writers are the foundation of this new way of writing: Mariano Azuela with his novel Los de abajo, Martin Luis Guzman with his novel El aguila y la serpiente, and Rodolfo Usigli with his masterpiece, El gesticulador. All three authors will become the fundamental backbone to a vision that counteracts the lack of direction from the revolutionary leaders, the lack of ideological goals for the greater masses, and—most importantly—the destruction of the old system of power.
