The main research future lines derived from this work are: the incorporation of additional techniques for improving the efficiency (like parallel implementations), the application of the proposed method to a 4D medical image scenario (as an example, registration of 4D ultrasound scans), the analysis of the performance of new higher order (greater than 2) regularization schemes in the Fourier domain, and a detailed study of the convergence of the developed algorithm.
